Robotic Packing and Palletizing of Electronic Equipment - Courtesy of Flexicell

This industrial robot application case study features three FANUC robots in various stages of packing and palletizing electronic equipment in an automated system developed by Flexicell. A FANUC M-16iB is shown loading electronic equipment into boxes for shipping. The robot will help provide bar code verification and place the equipment on a tray for packaging. The robot goes on to assemble the rest of the product components and packaging materials.

Further down the assembly line a FANUC A-510 adds the product manual to the materials in the box. Finally, a FANUC M-410iB is shown palletizing the completed packages for shipping.

Key Technology Demonstrated

M-16iB robot

  • Largest work envelope and load capacity in its class.
  • Small footprint facilitates placement in tight surroundings.
  • Dedicated pneumatic and electrical connections on J3 axis.
  • Fail-safe brakes on all axes increase safety, functionality and control.
  • Unique hollow RV speed reducers simplify cable routing.

M-410iB robot

  • High performance motion yields fast cycle times and high throughput.
  • Large work envelope provides the ability to service multiple production lines.
  • Small footprint and integrated controller reduce required floor space.
  • Proven, reliable FANUC servo drives provide highest uptime and productivity.
  • Longer maintenance intervals equate to lower operating costs .
  • Fewer mechanical components reduce down time, increase mean time between failure (MTBF) and minimize spare part requirements.
